Foreign & International Accounting Services – Bookkeeping for Overseas Businesses from India

How Indian businesses with foreign customers or overseas entities – and foreign companies outsourcing to India – manage accounting, GST on exports, FEMA and transfer pricing.

What Are Foreign / International Accounting Services?

International accounting covers bookkeeping, financial reporting and compliance for businesses that operate across borders – for example an Indian exporter invoicing overseas customers, an Indian company with a subsidiary abroad, or a foreign company that outsources its accounting to India.

Services Typically Included

  • Bookkeeping and monthly accounts in multi-currency, with bank and payment-gateway reconciliation
  • Financial statements under Indian GAAP / Ind AS, and support for IFRS or US GAAP reporting packs
  • Accounts payable and receivable, payroll support and management MIS
  • Foreign-currency accounting – exchange gain/loss and revaluation
  • Group consolidation support for Indian parents with overseas subsidiaries

India-Specific Compliance for Cross-Border Business

1. GST on exports – export of goods and services is zero-rated. File exports under LUT (Letter of Undertaking) to export without paying IGST and claim refunds of unutilised ITC. 2. FEMA and RBI – realise export proceeds within the prescribed time, track FIRC/FIRA, and report overseas investment through FC-GPR / FLA returns where applicable. 3. Form 15CA / 15CB – required for most foreign remittances, with a CA certificate for taxable payments. 4. Transfer pricing – transactions with overseas associated enterprises need documentation and Form 3CEB. 5. Income tax and DTAA – Tax Residency Certificate and Form 10F help claim treaty benefits; TDS under Section 195 applies on many payments to non-residents. 6. Foreign Assets disclosure – resident individuals must report foreign assets and income in the ITR.

Who Needs It?

  • Exporters of goods and IT/professional services
  • Indian startups with US, UK or UAE customers or entities
  • Importers paying overseas suppliers
  • Foreign companies with a liaison/branch/subsidiary in India
  • NRIs running a business or holding assets in India

Exports are zero-rated. You can export without paying IGST under an LUT and claim a refund of unutilised input tax credit, provided export conditions such as foreign-exchange receipt are met.

When are Form 15CA and 15CB required?

For most foreign remittances. Form 15CB, a CA certificate, is needed where the payment is taxable in India and above the prescribed limit.
